California CEU Requirements

 
 

 The state of California requires that, in order to renew a license, architects need to complete (5) hours of coursework regarding disability access requirements imposed by the federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and another 5 hours on zero net carbon design for a total of 10 CE hours during each renewal cycle.

Must be renewed every 2 years, before the last day of the Architect’s birth month in odd-numbered years.


The California Architect Board is required to conduct CE coursework audits. The documentation for a course must include:

  • Course Title

  • Subjects Covered

  • Name of Provider

  • Name of Educator

  • Date of Completion

  • Number of Hours Completed

  • Statement about the trainer’s knowledge and experience
