Pre-Finished Bypass Closet Door Spec Sheets
DIVISION 8 - DOORS AND WINDOWS Section 08240 - Bypass Closet Doors

1. GENERAL

1.01 Work Included

  1. Base Bid:
    1. Contractor Provided: Particleboard bipass interior doors, primed painted, factory premachined, complete with hardware at locations indicated on the drawings and schedules.
    2. Pivot doors shall be warranteed for one (1) year by the manufacturer.

1.03 SUBMITTALS
  1. Shop Drawings: Showing application of doors to project, complete with installation instructions.
  2. Product Data: Door manufacturer’s technical data, including details of construction and hardware specifications.
2. PRODUCTS

2.01 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS
  1. Manufacturer: Any recognized manufacturer of bypass particleboard doors complying with the requirements, including the following:
    1. Landquist and Son, Inc., 6428 North Ridgeway, Lincolnwood, IL 60712
    2. Or approved equal
2.02 MATERIALS/FABRICATION
  1. General: Doors shall be sizes and types scheduled on the drawings.
  2. Particleboard Pivot Doors: Comply with the following requirements:
    1. . Bipass units to be fabricated of 45 lb. density industrial grade particleboard, 3/4" thick
    2. Provide primed units with paint grade melamine panels 2 sides.
    3. All edges of the panels shall be plasticized.
    4. Hardware is to be factory applied to doors wherever practical.
    5. Panels shall be manufactured in increments of 1/4" in width and 1/2" in height to fit any existing opening without the use of extra trim, headers or stub walls.
    6. Track to be 1-5/8" x 1-1/2" No. 6063T6 extruded aluminum.
      1. Track shall be designed as to prevent accidental removal of the door hanger brackets. Panels shall not be removable from the track without the prior removal of the floor guides.
    7. Door hanger brackets shall be 14 gauge cold rolled steel, carbonized for additional strength.
      1. Bracket shall have flange lock design to eliminate undue stress on screws.
      2. Hanger bracket assembly shall be adjustable to accommodate out of level floors. Rollers shall heavy duty ball bearing nylon wheels.
    8. Floor guides shall be heavy duty nylon and steel of sufficient width and height to prevent accidental removal of panels.
    9. Door pulls shall be recessed brass plated cup pulls, factory machined.
    10. ADA compliance required.
3. EXECUTION

3.01 EXAMINATION
  1. A. Examine prepared openings prior to hanging doors to verify that the openings comply with the indicated requirements for type, size, location, and fold characteristics and have been installed with plumb jambs and level heads.
    1. Reject any doors with defects.
    2. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
3.02 INSTALLATION
  1. Condition doors to average prevailing humidity in installation area prior to hanging.
  2. Install doors in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and as indicated.
3.03 ADJUSTING AND PROTECTION
  1. Operation: Rehang or replace doors which do not slide or operate freely.
  2. Finished doors: Refinish or replace doors damaged during installation.
  3. Protect doors as recommended by door manufacturer to ensure that doors will be without damage or deterioration at time of substantial completion.
